The search warrant executed by FBI agents Wednesday at an election facility in Fulton County, Georgia, authorized the seizure of election records, voter rolls, and other materials connected to the 2020 election, according to a copy of the warrant reviewed by Spin City News.
The search of the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center in Union City marks the most visible indication to date that the FBI may be examining allegations related to the 2020 election. Fulton County — Georgia’s most populous county and home to Atlanta — was a focal point of voter fraud complaints following the election, though those claims were repeatedly rejected by the courts.
Agents were seen entering the election hub, a facility opened in 2023 to streamline county election operations. According to the warrant, FBI personnel were authorized to seize physical ballots, tabulator tapes, electronic ballot images, and voter rolls from the 2020 election stored at the county’s primary election facility.
In a statement, the FBI confirmed agents were carrying out a “court-authorized law enforcement action,” but declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
The search comes years after former President Donald Trump and his allies raised concerns about election integrity in Georgia after Trump narrowly lost the state to former President Joe Biden.
The results were upheld following a machine count and two recounts, but Trump continued to dispute the outcome and publicly clash with state officials.
Earlier this month, Trump renewed those claims during remarks at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, saying that “people will soon be prosecuted” without offering specifics.
Separately, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against Fulton County in December seeking access to 2020 election ballots.
County officials are contesting that lawsuit, arguing the department has not presented a valid legal basis for obtaining the materials. Officials have indicated the FBI search is unrelated to that case.
